Bible Text: 1 Timothy 6:1-2 | Preacher: Adam Gibbs | Series: 1 Timothy - The Rules for God's House
As we come into this next chapter we find Paul continuing the challenge which he began back in chapter 4 when he exhorted to be an example of believers. Through our words and actions, we demonstrate the victory that is found in God’s Word and our Lord Jesus Christ, and all through chapter 5 we have been developing that our devotion to God is authenticated to God and to others by our love for others (Andy Stanley). We can point to the path and key victory by our care.
Galatians 6:1–2 AV
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Our victory in Jesus is seen through the quality of our resulting relationships.
James 3:17–18 AV
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
As you grow in your walk with the Lord you should see, more and more, that the social aspects of the faith are of a fundamental importance. If we, the house of God, are to fulfil our purpose we must realise that our demonstration of this victory will surpass these wall.
Now as we come into chapter 6 Paul addresses one of the first places that will test our resolve as the members of God’s house. The victory found in God’s Word and in Jesus is to revolutionize every area of our life, including at work.
